Here is a step by step Guide to File RFD – 01 on GST Portal:
Step 1: Login Here to GST Portal.
Step 2: Go to ‘Services’ > ‘Refunds’ > ‘Application for Refund’
Step 3: Select ‘Refund of Excess Balance in Electronic Cash Ledger’ and click on ‘CREATE’ Button.
Step 4: After that, a new screen will appear reflecting all balances in the Electronic Cash Ledger which can be claimed as refund.
Now enter the values of the refund to be claimed in the editable ‘Refund Claimed’ table.
Step 5: Select the Bank Account (in which you want the refund to be credited) from the drop-down and click on ‘SAVE’ Button.
Step 6: Click on the checkbox in the declaration. Select the name of the ‘Authorised Signatory’ from the drop-down menu.
Based on the type of your organization click on ‘SUBMIT WITH DSC’ or ‘SUBMIT WITH EVC’ Buttons.
Once RFD – 01 is filed Refund ARN Receipt is generated in PDF format. After inspection by a GST officer refund will be credited to the bank account.
Form GST RFD-02
An acknowledgment covered under the form RFD-02 is available on the common portal for applicants. This acknowledgment will be auto-populated on the common portal after the application of refund is filed using the form GST RFD-01. The following details are covered in the acknowledgment after you file the application for refund:
- Acknowledgement number
- Date of issue of acknowledgment
- GSTIN/UIN/Temporary ID
- Details of the jurisdiction (Center/State/Union Territory) under which the acknowledgment is issued
- Form number
- Name of the authorized signatory for the mentioned GSTIN
- Tax period for which the application for refund is filed
- Date and time of the filing of the application for refund
- The reason for filing the application for refund
ITC is provided or refunded for additional tax given under CGST, SGST, UTGST, IGST, and Cess. Refund Process is also further classified, under various small heads like interest, fines, fees, and more, the acknowledgment also shows the major and minor categories under which the refund is claimed.
Form GST RFD-03
After reviewing the application by the appropriate officer, he will electronically share discrepancies electronically through the general portal in GST RFD-03 by the applicant. After the amendments to the shortage shared by the appropriate officer, the applicant will need to apply for the refund.
